We are delighted to introduce our specialised, neuro-affirming sourcing, training and support service for families who have neurodivergent children and for neurodivergent adults. As a strongly developed multi-disciplinary team with evidence-based practices in the field of neurodevelopment, we understand the unique and very specific challenges and support needs that come with raising a child who has a differently wired brain and different learning abilities.

Our mission is to ensure, with great empathy and guidance, the best support for your child’s needs. Suitable support and candidates are identified and trained by the NDC Facilitation Academy to provide personalised support to help your child with their presenting needs. Whether your child needs help with executive functioning, motivation, academics, social skills, or a combination of these, we can assist you on your journey. The NDC Facilitation Academy is proud to extend its services throughout South Africa, with dedicated branches in KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape. Our presence in these regions allows us to better serve the neurodiverse community.

How does the facilitation academy work?

How do I apply for current vacancies?

If you scroll further down the page, you will see a tab called ‘Vacancies’. Click on it, and you will see current jobs listed. Click ‘Apply Now’ for the role you would like to apply for and complete the form

Who pays my salary?

The employer (family) will provide you with a contract. Please do not start working without a signed contract in place. The employer will pay your salary as an employee of their family.

How long can this process take?

There are many factors that may affect the duration of this process, such as:

  • an individual’s notice period.
  • requirements that are unique and specific to a child’s profile, possibly prolonging the time to find a suitable individual to meet these needs.

Should there be no delays as mentioned above, the process for an individual’s placement can typically be between 3-4 weeks of officially starting the process.

Any guarantee for long-term placement?

Unfortunately, dealing with people and the variables in life, we cannot guarantee anything. What we can guarantee, is that we will conduct a thorough interview with potential employees, asking the necessary questions about longevity, future plans, and other jobs they may be applying for at that time. We also conduct reference and criminal checks. Furthermore, we provide the post onboarding support mentioned in our service.

What can I expect to pay an au pair/facilitator?

Typically, the hourly rates range from R 80 to R 200 per hour. Generally, the fewer hours worked, the higher the hourly rate, and conversely, the more hours worked, the lower the rate. It is important to note that these figures serve as guidelines, and actual rates will depend on the specific hours and days the candidate is needed for work, as well as the candidate's experience and qualifications. We will be able to guide you with this.

What can I expect to pay a tutor?

Tuition fees differ across different educational levels, including early childhood development (ECD) and foundation, intermediate, and high school tutoring. Our tutors specialising in primary school subjects have the opportunity to earn at least R 200 per hour, while high school tutors can earn R 300 per hour. However, these rates may be subject to specific requirements requested by families for their children.
